KLMJ/KQCR Play-By-Play Announcers are assigned by the Sports Director on what events are to be broadcast. This position will require knowledge of sports including rules and terminology along with the history and current statistical information of the team being covered. KLMJ/KQCR provides live play-by-play for football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, baseball and softball along with reports from track, cross country and golf for thirteen area high schools. The ideal candidate must possess or have the ability to learn how to operate the technology required to broadcast sporting events live. Previous play-by-play experience is helpful. This is a part-time position which may be combined with another open position with KLMJ/KQCR. Job descriptions on other opportunities with KLMJ/KQCR are available upon request.

These positions are available nights and weekends. Candidates must be able to operate both KLMJ and KQCR with the ability to handle any situations that may arise during their shift including severe weather and/or national emergencies, such as 9-11. Announcers that work nights and weekends are usually the only person in the building. They are responsible for on-air programming for both stations, must be able to answer telephones and greet customers. They must have the knowledge and understand news, weather and sports programming. The position requires someone with excellent communication and computer experience, a clear and pleasant voice, someone who is extremely organized with the ability to multi-task. Commercial production may also be included in the part-time announcer duties.

KQCR Radio has some part-time evening positions available to board-op sporting events. Hours are usually between 6 and 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. This person would work with an on-location sports announcer or team, interfacing the commercial inventory and scores from other sites. This position would work underneath a full-time KLMJ staff member.

KLMJ NEWS

        Primary Responsibilities:

•     Gather, write and edit news accurately and timely on a daily basis
•     Present several newscasts on-air daily
•     Keep the newsroom in an organized manner
•     Update news on the KLMJ website daily
•     Form relationships with city, county, school officials and others in a four-county area
•     Share weekend duties in the News Department and be available for special elections/meetings

KLMJ/KQCR SALES DEPARTMENT

The KLMJ/KQCR Sales Department is responsible for maintaining and cultivating new and existing business.  With the main goal of helping businesses market their products and services to our listeners.  The following skills are required for this position.

The sales department requires ads be turned in on a timely basis and being able to switch gears quickly.

KLMJ/KQCR SALES RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Take and compose ads for radio spots
• Fill out contacts accurately

• Production when needed
• Presenting a professional image
