June 1st, in Thornton the Chit Chat Cafe hosted KLMJ's second annual "Remember Marilyn" night. In addition to the dinner, and Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, a look alike and talent contest were held as part of the evening's festivities. The audience voted on the look alike winner by casting ballots, and last year's look alike winner, Karla Peter of Latimer returned with her twin sister Marla Schlicting from Meservey who tied for third place among the ballots cast. The runner-up was Tammy Kiefer from Thornton, and Hansell's Kalynn Rowen was voted as the contestant who most resembled Marilyn Monroe. Rowen was also chosen by crowd applause as the winner of the talent contest following her performance of the Marilyn Monroe song, "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend". Each contestant in the look alike contest received two tickets to see Foreigner in Fort Dodge on June 15th, and as the winner Kaylynn Rowen received a basket of flowers, and a gift basket that included pearls among other gifts. The Chit Chat Cafe received over 80 advance reservations for the event, and served more than 100 patrons. 2012 is the 50th Anniversary of the death of film and cultural icon Marilyn Monroe.
