Duane and his wife, Karen have lived in Hampton since 1994. They have
two middle-school children, Stephanie and Chris.
Duane is the former sports director and current sales and marketing manager at
KLMJ/KQCR. He enjoys helping businesses be successful by using his
creativity in writing and producing radio ads. He also gets "dusted
off" and comes off the shelf to help with live sports coverage.
He continues to have a short, daily live spot on the air at 7:35am with
sports trivia and the morning sports news.
Some of his favorite memories include the station's April Fools Day
pranks(Parades, Change to Polka Music, and the Baseball game near Faulkner),
morning coversations through the years with Pat Palmer, Ryan Wendt, Steve
Daniels, & Mike Betten as well as numerous last second game-winning shots,
hits, touchdowns and photo finishes he's covered live on the air. Duane
has broadcast live sports events in over 140 towns in all corners of Iowa.
Although he will certainly root for his kids at H-D, he cherishes all the
relationships with coaches, advertisers and listeners in all 14 area school
districts and truly cheers for the kids in all area towns.
His wife Karen, the High School vocal music instructor at Iowa Falls/Alden, is
a peach of a gal for putting up with all his "creativity" since
they met at a Valentines dance in 1994.
His daughter Steph has been in Dance, Softball and now loves Volleyball and
playing the Clarinet. Chris is an outdoorsman...already with well
rehearsed fishing and hunting stories. He also plays football and baseball
and has been involved in scouts. Both are members of youth group at church
and love it when their dad tells stories about them on the radio!
When not at work...Duane loves to go to movies with his family, Watching the
'Clones, Panthers & Vikings as well as NASCAR(Go Tony, Go!). He has
been president of the Hampton Kiwanis(love that foodstand), a board member at
Zion Reformed Church, "Z4" mens quartet, Main Street Hampton, Relay
for Life(remember Duane up on the roof?) and the never-ending battle of
working out and losing weight.
Duane thanks God for the opportunity to make a difference in people's business
and hopefully provide a little entertainment at the same time.
Thanks to everyone for listening through the years and for letting KLMJ/KQCR be
two small-town stations doing BIG things! You are all like family....take
care and God Bless. Titus 2.
